So, I’ve read a bunch of responses.  I must say this: none of you understand what I’m saying.  Most of the replies have been about the bad conditions, pay, lack of funds, etc.  All of those points I agree with.  I am not saying that the teachers should stand for that.  I thought I was already very clear about that.  

My point, again that I thought was very clear, was that going on strike and leaving the classroom will hurt the kids.  I’m not saying that continuing to teach in those conditions is good.  It’s not.  But now those kids are getting ZERO education.  You want to protest and support your union, fine.  Great.  Do it after school.  Don’t use the students as pawns, that’s not cool.  And that’s exactly what’s going on.
